The Key
A Palestinian grandmother in Amman refuses to let her grandson sell the family's iron house key — the one from a village that no longer exists.
Synopsis
Amman, present day. Umm Yousef, 82, has kept the iron key to her family's house in Yaffa for seventy-five years. When her grandson, drowning in student debt, quietly puts the key up for auction as a piece of "contested heritage," the family fractures across three generations and two continents.
A dark comedy about ownership, memory, and what we are — and are not — allowed to let go of.
